Accretion and Dilution

Deal Terms

Whether a transaction increases (accretive) or decreases (dilutive) the per share earnings of the acquirer. It is a standard analysis in take private and M&A to understand the impact on earnings per share.

Example

A deal funded with cheap debt can be accretive to EPS even if it is a multiple above the target's trading level.
