MOIC
Multiple on Invested Capital. Total money returned divided by total money invested, ignoring the timing of cash flows. A 2x MOIC means you got back twice what you put in. It is the simplest return measure and pairs with IRR to give the full picture.
Example
A deal bought for 100 and sold for 250 is a 2.5x MOIC.
